These Terms of Use (“terms”) are an agreement between you and Origin Five Labs Teknoloji A.Ş., Esentepe Mah. Büyükdere Cad. No:199/6, Levent 199 Binası, Şişli, İstanbul, Türkiye (“Origin Five Labs”, “we”, “us”), for the Scanova mobile app and its related services (“Scanova”). By installing or using Scanova you accept these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Scanova.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and is part of these terms.
2. Using Scanova
Scanova lets you scan, import, organize, sign, annotate, convert and export documents, recognize their text, scan and create QR codes, and use AI features: Explain this, Translate, Business card to contact and AI Art QR. Features may change as we improve the app.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Scanova (16 in the European Economic Area and the UK, unless a parent or guardian has consented where the law allows). If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.
3. Your account and your library
Scanova has no login. On first launch it creates an anonymous account tied to your device. Your documents, signatures, QR history and business cards are stored only on your iPhone and are not synced to us, so we cannot restore them if your device is lost, reset or replaced, or if you remove the app. Keep copies of important documents, for example by exporting them to Files. You are responsible for what happens on your device.
You can delete your account and its data at any time in Settings › Account › Delete account.
4. Scanova Pro subscriptions
Scanova is free to download and has a free plan: scanning, importing, organizing, annotating and QR scanning are unlimited, and other features have limits, for example one watermarked export, one Explain this document, a page-one preview of Translate and three business cards. Free-plan limits apply per device and are not restarted by deleting and re-creating an account. Scanova Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription, offered yearly, or weekly with a 3-day free trial, that unlocks the Pro features, subject to fair-use limits on some AI features. The price, billing period and any free trial or introductory offer are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase, or, with a free trial, when the trial ends.
- Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Free trial. If you start the weekly plan's 3-day free trial, it converts into a paid weekly subscription when the trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. A free trial is offered once per Apple ID.
- Managing and cancelling. Manage or turn off auto-renewal in your Apple ID account settings after purchase: iOS Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your Scanova account does not cancel a subscription.
- AI Art QR credit packs are one-time, consumable purchases that add generations beyond the Pro weekly allowance. Credits are used only when a generation succeeds and are not refundable by us.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases.
- Restoring. Use “Restore purchases” in the app to reconnect a subscription bought with the same Apple ID.
- Price changes follow Apple's rules, including telling you in advance and, where required, asking for your consent.
- When Pro ends, Pro features lock again, but every document you made stays on your iPhone and stays open.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law where you live.
5. Apple's Standard EULA
If you got Scanova from the App Store, your licence to use it is the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (“Standard EULA”). These terms add to it. If these terms conflict with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA applies to the licence of the app.
You and we agree that: these terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Scanova; Apple is not responsible for any product claims, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims, or claims that Scanova infringes someone else's intellectual property; if Scanova fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any), and to the extent the law allows Apple has no other warranty obligation; you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo or on a US prohibited-parties list; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
6. Your documents and content
You keep ownership of the documents, images, text and other content you put into Scanova (“your content”). Most of it never leaves your iPhone. When you use a cloud feature, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process your content, and to send it to the providers listed in our Privacy Policy, only to produce the result you asked for. This licence ends when the processing is done, or, for AI Art QR images, when you delete them or your account.
You confirm that you have the right to scan, process and share your content, including documents that belong to or concern other people, and that doing so doesn't break a confidentiality duty or the law.
7. Signatures
Scanova places an image of the signature you draw or type onto a document. It is not a certified, qualified or advanced electronic signature, and it does not verify anyone's identity. Whether a signed document is legally valid depends on the law and on what the other party accepts. Only sign as yourself, and only documents you are entitled to sign.
8. Acceptable use
Don't use Scanova to:
- break the law or anyone's rights, including privacy, publicity and intellectual property rights;
- forge, alter or misrepresent documents or signatures, or to deceive or defraud anyone;
- get around usage limits or watermarks, create accounts in bulk, or use bots, scrapers or automated access;
- reverse-engineer, attack, overload or interfere with Scanova or its servers, except where the law expressly allows it;
- resell or commercially exploit Scanova or its output without our written permission, beyond your own use of the documents and QR codes you make.
AI Art QR prompts and codes. When you write a description for AI Art QR, or choose what a code links to, don't ask for or encode:
- sexual content, or any content involving minors in a sexual or harmful way;
- violent, hateful, harassing or extremist content, or content that promotes self-harm;
- real people's likenesses without their permission, or other people's logos, trademarks or copyrighted characters you have no right to use;
- links to malware, phishing, scams or anything illegal, or codes designed to mislead people about where they lead.
Descriptions are checked automatically and some are blocked. You can report any generated image in the app. We may remove content and limit, suspend or end access that breaks these rules.
9. AI features and output
AI can make mistakes. Not legal, financial or medical advice.
Scanova uses AI and automatic recognition. They are helpful, but they can be wrong or incomplete. In particular:
- Explain this summaries, red flags, deadlines and answers may miss or misread something. Always check the original document, and ask a qualified professional before acting on anything important;
- translations may be inaccurate, and handwriting is not translated. Don't rely on a translation where an official or certified one is required;
- recognized text and business card fields may contain errors. Check them before you save or share;
- AI Art QR codes are checked to scan when they are made, but we can't guarantee that every scanner, print size or surface will read them. Test a code before you print it widely;
- conversions between Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF may change fonts, layout or formatting. Keep your original file.
You are responsible for your decisions and for how you use the output. AI output may be similar for different users, and we don't guarantee it is unique or free of third-party rights.
10. Our rights
Scanova, including its software, design, text, graphics and the Scanova name and logo, belongs to Origin Five Labs or its licensors and is protected by law. Apart from the licence to use the app, these terms don't give you any rights in it. If you send us feedback, we may use it without any obligation to you.
11. Third-party services
Scanova relies on third-party services, such as Apple's App Store and the providers in our Privacy Policy, and QR codes may lead to third-party websites. Their own terms apply to them, and we are not responsible for them. Scanova shows you a link before it opens it; you decide whether to follow it.
12. Disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, Scanova is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that Scanova will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will recognize every page, edge or word, or that documents stored on your device can't be lost. Some jurisdictions don't allow these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Origin Five Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or documents, missed deadlines or decisions made on AI output, arising from your use of Scanova. Our total liability for any claim relating to Scanova is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Scanova in the 12 months before the claim or 50 US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or gross negligence and wilful misconduct, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.
14. Ending these terms
You can stop using Scanova and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if the law requires it. We may also discontinue Scanova; if we do, we will try to give reasonable notice, and documents on your device stay on your device. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as 9, 12, 13 and 16, continue after these terms end.
15. Changes
We may update these terms, for example when Scanova or the law changes. We will show the new date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Scanova after that, the new terms apply.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and the courts and enforcement offices of İstanbul (Çağlayan) have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and may bring a claim in its courts.
